Resumé Jorrit Noordhuizen – landscape architect

Jorrit graduated in 2011 as a landscape architect at the Wageningen University (the Netherlands). A general incentive in his work is designing for a sustainable future by developing strategies for urban and regional assignments on various scale-levels.

At NOHNIK he is working on a wide range of projects varying from the FutreLab NL2100, Castle Park Weert (built), development of the Almeerderhout forest, a watch tower at the Twenthe Airbase (built), , design for the Piet Soer square in Havelte (under construction), energy transition of the Vallei and Veluwe Water Authority, vision for the Utrecht Green Belt, land-art project Dune Carcass on Vlieland island, regional vision for sustainable tourism in Katla UNESCO Global Geopark in Iceland and the vision Care2Share Oosterparkwijk city of Groningen (vision on ageing, health care and resilient cities – winner of the WhoCares competition of the Chief Government Architect. The project Watermaker was nominated for the ASN Bank worldprice. Also he worked on a transformation strategy for the vulnerable barrier island coast of North Carolina (USA). This project was honored with Archiprix 2012, the IFLA Zvi Miller Prize 2011 and the Urban Interior Award 2011.

As well Jorrit is a guest lecturer at Artez Academy for architecture in Arnhem, the Academy for architecture Amsterdam and at the summerschool of Wageningen University.

Before founding NOHNIK, Jorrit worked for several renowned design firms in the Netherlands on multiple landscape and urban design projects in the Netherlands and abroad, for example as designer / projectleader at Karres and Brands. Examples of projects are the project Naerheden suburb of the future near Copenhagen, the new Limmel Lock near Maastricht, restoration of the historical castle garden IJsselstein, transformation of Military air base Twente and urban regeneration of Rotterdam Zuid.
