On Wednesday May 15th we will present the results of our research by design project on energy transition in peat landscapes during the GO!RES event in Utrecht. In the period 2018-2019 a team consisting of NOHNIK architecture and landscapes, Org-ID and ECN (part of TNO) studied the impact of sustainable energy production on the picturesque Dutch peat landscapes. Within the study we developed six perspectives for an imagined area in the western part of the country. With these six perspectives we investigated the implications of sustainable energy production on spatial, organisational, social and financial aspects. Also local challenges such as soil subsidence are taken into account. The perspectives provide specific tools for various stakeholders to develop future energy landscapes themselves. The project was funded by the Dutch Creative Industries Fund and the Governmental Cultural Heritage Agency.
